Hello Ladies & Gents,
Gav and I are working on this 1969 MK1 Ford Capri 'Kate'.
We've had her for a little under a year, and a we've been dealing with a seized engine, rust, and rotting interior.
She's a tough girl, with a lot of potential.
We also play music sometimes.
So, if you like our antics, engine starts, live jams etc.. subscribe, like, and send us a comment or 2 : )
Thanks for watching,
Emmanuel & Gavin

This is not easy gents.. We already have the valves hitting the pistons, and we still need to skim the head to get to the desired 11:1 compression ratio. We are looking at cutting the piston crown surface to accomodate the valves. If anyone has any suggestions, fire away! :) Emmanuel

'Tattoo Stu', has an eye for design, and dropped in today with these new hoodies.. They are too small for me!! Gav's fits him perfectly though :) The material needs to improve in quality, as it feels thin. What do you chaps & ladies think of the overall design & look of the hoodie? Emmanuel :)

Hello Gents, I apologise about the camera upside down incident... It gets corrected again after 1 minute or so.. =) we bought this old mk1, as a donor car. for helping us build 1 good capri.. a.k.a. 'Kate'. cost us £1850 all in, but we can use numerous parts from this car, which is in a very poor state, but is complete, minus 1 front wing. what you think? Emmanuel 😍🛠😎🔥🎼🧯☠🙈👍😊

spent £950 on original ford capri RS3100 bonnet (mint condition), headlight bezels, headlight bowls, and correct front grill.. bank took a punch, but im delighted with these bits, as they are essential and a very desirable upgrade for kate. thanks Gents 😎🛠🔥🏁🔧🕶😊 Emmanuel

Hello Gents, This is PART 2 of today's member update. We are going to be organising a 'Will it start?' video for this old 1600cc Kent engine. Not sure if the engine will start, as it obviously doesn't look great, but all the bits, spark, carburettor, etc are there. Who knows? =) what you think? Emmanuel 😍🛠😎🔥🎼🧯☠🙈👍😊

Hey chaps, this little clip was sent to us this morning by the beadblasters. Kate has A LOT of filler... =( They are going to spray her with primer later this morning, and we are picking her up around 3pm today. We are taking the camera with us for the journey, and we'll be posting a full vid in the next few days. looks like we are going to be removing a lot of filler. Thanks for showing an int...

This was filmed a month or so ago, before putting kate to bed for the winter. She made 153 BHP at about 6200rpm which is pretty good going to be honest. We're all chuffed to bits that she held together, as listening to that engine screaming is not relaxing :D Big thanks to Chris Holland from RRS Rolling road services, and all of you who support us on here. I just went and looked at that "Beast" video...... all those mental ideas I thought I had suddenly don't seem cool anymore. Oh well. Looking forward to the rest of this playlist as I've recently fallen in love with the Ford Mk1 Capri. Would love to do a restomod on one of these sometime in the future.
Is that signal red?
@LordFlashheart.11 not sure sorry
No worries and thanks for the reply. I have a Capri in signal red, GT4, very rare. Love old ford's. Keep them alive for as long as possible
Haven't seem any episodes lately.
@johnmoulton-zh9rm it's nice that you noticed buddy, thank you, will get something up and over to you very soon 👍👍👍
I love the bugeye sprite Mine has a small block Chevy 383ci in it. Goes like stink
we ought to have a race..l i think you'd kick my ass!
💪🏼👌🏽
Kent crossflow, one of the best engines ever built.
Have you got some spare parts for sale? Or where can i buy it? I"m slowly looking for some missing parts for better vision 😅. Like a grill, dummy vents, Ford letters and Capri badge, rear left light and some more... ;) At this moment left my car in Poland but I"m living in UK. Greetings from Stoke Guys 😊
I have some parts you can look through. Possibly grill, dummy vents and badges. Feel free to visit us, Mon-Fri 9-6pm, for address please search for Classic Carbs UK on Google (postcode is DY5 3UP). See you soon :) Emmanuel

19:45 When I bought a Capri, and watching this now I can FEEL this metal sound when you knock on panel 😅 My scrapi doing same like this and I love it❤ . I hope you know what I mean, sory my English is still like a sh... 😂
Have you noticed those carbs only fire on cylinders 2 and 4 while idling? Try pulling a lead off number 1 or 3 and see there's no difference to the idle. That's why the engine wobbles so much when cold. It gets slighlty better when warm. I just fitted twin 34 ICT's to my 1776 buggy, got same wobble. Had to fit larger idle jets to improve the idle. Got 65's but going to fit 70s. Still prefer these carbs to my IDF 40's which were forever having clogged idle jets. Nice video!
I haven't , but will have a look when i get the chance. Thanks for the tip! :)
What size engine were the 45s on?
Looks like a twinport 1600cc T1 engine
Perfect condition :) better than from factory in 73 😅
Thanks for this 😁 every single tutorial will help me 😊
Pleasure 👌👌👌
Guys... I did it 😁 yesterday I bought a mk1 from scrapyard. Is for full restore, much worst than Kate few years ago but my dreams come true ❤ Greetings from Poland! :)
Congratulations 🎊 👏 💐 🥳 Can we see a video of it??
When I saw this I wondered if it was the car owned by an acquaintance at school many years ago. I had never seen a bright red Capri before I saw his one ( also on a G plate) and none since ,until this one, despite seeing hundreds of them lined up at the factory. I wondered if it was the same car, but when it was mentioned it was a 1 owner, then it probably isn't the same. Infact my father had a G reg green 1600GT with a vinyl roof and disc hubcaps, as I remember.
This was indeed a one owner car, from near Birmingham here in the UK.
@@Classiccarbscouk Thanks, the one back then was in Kent.
She looks so cool
Thanks buddy, was a proper buzz that first night :)
Putting that roof lining on is pure professionalism 👍😎
30 years ago my mate had the input shaft frim a broken cortina gearbox which used to align my new clutch its the best way
Sounds perfect! 👍
LLTK
Rusty Love 👌🏽
I haven't seen one in 30 years!
I hadn't seen one at all :)
So where is Kat Capri? How far you got with Capri? Let it go rusty again or what you’ve got with it a few more videos on it as well. 😮😮😮😮
Ok Ian, will do!
Dont take the number off😞
It's bold to cut the struts ,but I can't see why you need to go so extreme, first you can get 2inch std lower coil springs also go for a 1.6 Capri spring so it's not so stiff ,,and you can also get differing lengths of 2 1/4 springs at any poundage . So 300 lb but 8 inch long . To my mind if the car was nosey high the springs were too tall and/ or too high pondage ,just some thoughts , cheers
Thanks buddy, I tries 2'' Lowered springs, and it's still doing a wheelie. There's a chance that something might not be right in the setup, cause it's taking a lot of lowering to get it low enough.. well see
Does it float on water ...you could take it down the cut 😂
Tony's worked on it, so it probably fires torpedoes too 😅
@@Classiccarbscouk great to see you and the lads in this video 👍
As an American this Nash is Amazing! We own a old Nash Rambler about this year
my mom had a Nash Rambler but it was a 1964 I think until my brother went and totaled it
Oh dear!
Too funny I sold the pinto engine out of my 73 capri to a guy putting it in his Metropolitan
That'll get it shifting!!
Soo funny little car ❤ never seen it before 😅 Thanks for something new and another English lesson :D
Pleasure 👍😊
Those were such cool looking cars. Thanks for the video👍
It's a pleasure Ron! 😊
what a nice motor,proper job
It's tiny and quirky!
Some real nice car's Mano good to see you posting buddy 🤙👍
Thanks Ali!! ❤️
Yeah, dudes .... It's great to see you 👊
Thanks man!! 🙌👍👍👍
Nice to see you guys as not seen a video for a while.
Thanks buddy, glad to see your comment 👍👍
It looks like a bumber car 🤣
It really does 😅
Bad boi little at dudes
Lol!! Elvis had one apparently 👌👍😅
The lads are smiling
If its not the V six cilynder i am not interestid.
How quick was the car... ? Like quarter mile time roughly
I'm not sure , I've never looked
I love this cold start video
Hehe!!
Was it really a good idea to start this thing next to a heap of dry hay?😂
Only just seen this...what am I like eh😜. Bloody brilliant vid and such an adventure trying to bring her back to life. I, as we all probably were, were willing every time that key was turned, then finally....shes alive 😊😊. Loved the self healing lights and even the horn...it was like her coming out of hibernation, bloody brilliant feeling I bet. Anyway, hope you've sold her by now, she's quite a Capri. Anyway, dudes, hope you're all good and look forward to the next great vid 😊👍👍👍
So satisfying watching a carburettor being refurbished..so many old school cars limping along with neglected carbs.
Couldn't agree more!
Remember.. Capri..best car Ford ever made. (I've got 3 grand so far saved up so few more months to go it's gotta be a mark three as I'd need a lot more than 6 to 9 grand)
👍👍
How does get away with working cars he hasn't got a clue pouring chimals down and old engine dorp the oil out of it and plugs drain petrol fresh petrol oil plugs and I bet it start
The exact same car that I bought in 1976 when it was for sale in a used car column in my local newspaper. It was being sold by the original owner who bought it new in 1969. I can remember that it only had 30,000 miles on the clock. It was in immaculate condition and was the same red colour as in this video. It was such a great looking car, and as a 20 year old new driver I couldn't have wished for a nicer first car. I sold it in 1981 for almost the same price that I paid for it.
Nice 😊👍
@Classiccarbscouk I should mention this was in Canada, where there weren't many of these cars. The Ford Mustang got all the attention, but for me the Capri was a far better looking car.
@pauldg837 glad you enjoyed your capri. And yes, its definitely a good looking classic car, massive bonnet. The mustang is awesome!!
Had two of them both 74'. Made one a hotrod. They dont take curves very well. 145 mph with the 2.8 v6, not to shabby.😊
I'm a bit late to the party dudes having only found your channel a few weeks ago. I have worked my way through all kates videos. Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed the journey, I think what you have achieved is fantastic, well done dudes.
Thank you very much 😊🫡👍
Well done guys you saved another classic.
Thanks!
Top goat
💪😊
id fill the pots with a acetone and tranny fluid to help briing the rings back, then try a little oil down the bores, to help the rings seal to get it started. brak cleaner should NEVER be used to try start a engine.
Very courteous of Ford to provision a lovely tool tray in front of the radiator since they knew it would come in handy. Well done, guys!
Haha!! Very true!!
